It is a Marathon, and We Run it Together – Libya

Attachments

As we reflect on our progress so far in 2025, it is clear that the road ahead is not a sprint—it’s a marathon. From supporting families displaced by conflict to restoring essential services in floodaffected areas to strengthening systems across the country, UNICEF’s work in Libya remains both urgent and long-term. Over the past few weeks, together with our partners, we’ve delivered lifesaving health and nutrition services, secured safe water and sanitation to vulnerable communities, expanded access to education for displaced children, and strengthened national child protection systems.

At the same time, we face a stark reality: growing needs are being met with shrinking resources, forcing difficult choices and stretching our teams to their limits. But even in this constrained environment, UNICEF remains steadfast in its mission. We continue to reach those most in need—innovating, adapting, and ensuring that every penny makes the greatest possible impact for children.

We know the journey will be demanding—but we are not running it alone. This marathon is one we run together—with our partners, communities, donors, and government counterparts. Together, we remain committed to going the distance for every child in Libya—they deserve it.

Sincerely,

Mohammad Fayyazi

UNICEF Representative to Libya
