These biweekly reports intend to provide IOM and partners with a high-level overview of spontaneous, irregular South-bound flows taking place in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). To this end, the report builds on the IOM Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) flow monitoring, delivering regular field insights on irregular flows. Please note: Figures presented in this report are indicative, intending to highlight broad trends for operational purposes. South-bound flow volume figures, where included, are under-represented due to the diverse itineraries taken by migrants during their travel.
Between 17 and 30 June, DTM operations continued to observe South-bound migration flows across the continent. The demographic profile of migrants remained largely unchanged. While family units, including minors and adult women, continued to be present, men still represented the majority, though this varied by location. Venezuelan nationals accounted for between 84% and 94% of surveyed migrants, followed by smaller numbers of Colombians, Ecuadorians, and Peruvians. The main destination countries included Venezuela, Peru, Chile, and, to a lesser extent, Brazil.
